Most nonprofits ask you to trust that your gift becomes something. We would rather just show you the receipt. Here is what we spend money on, what each amount does, and how to give it.
Under Project Seal, we pay our panel attorneys a flat seven hundred and fifty dollars for every petition they file — regardless of how many hours the motion takes, how complicated the record is, or how it turns out. No hourly billing, no surprises, no overruns.
So $750 is not an estimate or an average. It is the actual price of putting one Project Seal motion in front of a federal judge on behalf of one family. Our other programs work differently — emergency funding, counseling, and the initiatives launching in 2027 do not price by the filing, and we will not pretend they do.
Every one of these is something we actually spend money on in a given week. Nothing here is a rounded-up guess.

Unrestricted gifts are the most useful thing you can hand us, because they let us move money to whichever family is closest to losing something. But if one of these is personal to you, designate it and we will honor that.

We pay counsel from money that has actually arrived. Invoices are logged by the date we receive them and paid in that order as funding allows — first in, first paid. It is the honest way to run litigation on donations, and it has one obvious weakness.
When giving is lumpy, the queue backs up. A family waits, not because their case is weak, but because the money for their motion has not landed yet. Recurring gifts are what smooth that out. A monthly donor is not just giving more over a year — they are making the queue move on schedule.
Many companies double a gift for free. If yours does, a matched $750 becomes two filings and costs you nothing extra.
Giving appreciated securities directly can avoid capital gains and often lets you give more for the same cost.
Recommend a grant to the Foundation through your DAF. We can supply whatever documentation your sponsor needs.
Larger gifts can seed an initiative outright or fund a match that pulls in smaller donors. Talk to us and we will build it with you.
Run a fundraiser, host a table, or join a host committee. Your reach may be the thing we are missing.
Name the Foundation in a will or estate plan and keep the work going for families you will never meet.
Stand in the Gap Foundation is a nonprofit organization. Our EIN and determination documents are posted on our transparency page, and you will get a receipt for your records. We are not tax advisors — check with yours about your own situation.
A fair question, and one we would rather answer with documents than adjectives. Our financials and most recent Form 990 are posted publicly. Read them and hold us to what is in them.
It may. The sealing argument in particular is developing law that no court has squarely adopted yet, and we say so on the Project Seal page rather than burying it. Your gift funds the attempt, which no one else was going to pay for. We will not tell you it is a sure thing.
No. We are not affiliated with any similarly named organization, and the confusion is common enough that we address it directly on our transparency page with our EIN and address.
Yes. Checks can be mailed to the address in the footer, and we can take a gift by phone or arrange a transfer. Email us and a person will answer.
